It was a heck of a way to find out that the tread on her shoes had worn off. She said she would have rather that laundry gone flying and SHE stayed solidly perched on the step.
Anyway, she saw the orthopedic doctor late yesterday afternoon. The news was generally good. He said it was a simple break that didn't need a cast or surgery. He put her in a boot (she calls it her "space boot" and wants a NASA uniform to go along with it - when she's not joking about becoming a cyborg and telling Chloe she's "bionic mommy") and said she could ditch the crutches as soon as the swelling goes down, which will probably be in a week or so. He's checking on that again next Monday. He also put her on Viocodan. Mommy doesn't like controlled substances, but she's taking it (perhaps less than directed, when daddy isn't here to stay on her about it). She said she didn't know if it made the foot stop hurting. At least, it made her not care that she had a foot. Doctor said her entire healing time will be 6 weeks, but she's mobile now with crutches and probably won't need them after 10 days to 2 weeks.
This whole thing has not diminished mommy's sense of humor, at least! Space suits. Hmm! And she's flying through second revisions on the trilogy she's writing. Thing is, she wants to get off the crutches because she feels bad about daddy having to do so much. She wants to help him around the house. He's done a great job. Then again, daddy is the best! Mommy and her pride. She also hates to miss too much work but heck with that - they understand and want her to heal because a healthy employee is a productive employee. Plus, she's in a good work group. Still, she feels bad about the trouble it's putting on other people.
She is recovering, though, and is thankful that it's minor (even if it doesn't feel minor right now). We also thank you for your wonderful support, prayers, and well wishes. The prayers are being answered in that it's a simple injury, for which we're all grateful. And she's learning to get around with the crutches and boot. She's trying, at least. We'll keep you posted on her progress.
That's all today. Take care, thanks for being great friends, and have a great week!
Luv,
Zack
