Hi everybody! Sorry this entry is late. Mommy was working on proofs for her novel coming our in November and was really busy. She finished it today. Hooray! The final version is done and now we look forward to getting the cover art. That's always exciting.Mommy & daddy also cleaned up the house & yard, and went the firing range. They don't go much because it's expensive, but they decided to today. They enjoyed that & dinner out. Now we're watching TV. It's good to get stuff done & still have time for fun stuff too. We're glad for the long weekend and extra time this weekend. I know mommy & daddy could use an extra day off after another busy week.I hope you have a great Labor Day weekend. Enjoy the extra day off!Luv,ChloeP.S. Sorry no picture. I'm updating thru the Weebly app and it keeps choking on the "post picture" function. They need to work on the stability of this app!
Happy birthday, Mommy! We hope you have a wonderful day! Mommy took today off work, and we're glad she's home. She went out for a bit with her mommy this morning, and did a little shopping around lunchtime, but she's back home with us now for the day. We got her an iTunes gift card and she downloaded Star Trek Into Darkness. Zack said he saw a pan of Jiffy Pop in the pantry, so we're hoping tonight will be movie and popcorn night! It's been a weekend full of celebrating. Daddy's birthday was last week, and they celebrated with their parents over the weekend. And some friends came into town and they celebrated with them weekend before last. We love all of the partying, but I'm wondering if the parronts are "partied out." It's good that both parents have birthdays so close together, but all of that activity can be tiring. I think that mommy might be a little glad that the "birthday bonanza" (as she calls this time in August when there are so many birthdays) is coming to a close. Well, we've had a lot of fun, and no doubt more's in store for the day. That's all for today. I hope you have a great week. Luv, Chloe Mommy cleaned the house because we’re going to have visitors this weekend! Both of their parents are coming to visit for the birthdays. Daddy’s birthday was yesterday, and mommy’s birthday is Monday. That means dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and cleaning kitchens and bathrooms have been done. They did some cleaning for the friends that came last weekend, but this week they've really scrubbed it down. The house is so clean it sparkles, and it smells fresh. That's the power of Pine-Sol, baby bird! I understand that mommy and daddy want the house to look it’s best, and they’re good about keeping it clean. In fact, I believe their cleanliness is legendary on Twitter, as it extends to us with the frequent cage cleanings and baths we get! But it’s not all about being compulsive. The truth is, mommy’s allergic to mold, and keeping the house clean keeps her allergies under control. It’s that or get allergy shots, and she said she had them in the past and they didn’t work because they’re nothing more than a scheme to line the doctor’s pockets (what?), so she and daddy keep the house clean. But I still don’t see why that means we need baths so frequently. Our feathers aren’t moldy! We do a great job keeping them preened and in great shape. Plus, Zack and I take regular dips in our water dishes. What’s up with that shower perch thing? Really? I guess it gives her some security in knowing that the cleaning has been done. Still, I don’t think it matters. We just like visiting with people, and frankly I think they don’t mind how the house looks as much as mommy and daddy think. I know the boys and I are looking forward to some good socialization time. Zack especially loves visits. He’s a ham! That’s all today. I hope you have a great weekend. Luv, Chloe Tomorrow is daddy’s birthday! We love you, daddy! We hope you have a great, happy day! We love birthdays, holidays, and all kinds of celebrations. Birds are happy creatures so naturally, we enjoy celebrating with our human parronts and companions. Especially if there’s food involved. Humans love to eat really good stuff and with the proper persuasion, you can get them to share those treats with you. Proper persuasion includes snatching, grabbing, stealing, and running like hell before they can take it away or say “no, you’re not supposed to have that!” Really, you probably aren’t either. Cholesterol and all, you know. Now hand it over like a good human. Hee hee! It’s such a fun game! Other fun games include rip the wrapping paper, gift bag hide and rustle, tissue paper tearing, cabinet perching, lunge at the visitors, finger buffet, shirt chewing, remove the glasses, and our favorite, “guess where I pooped?” Extra points are awarded if it takes the humans more than 12 hours to locate it and requires hard scrubbing to clean. Oh yes, birthdays are great fun. And mommy’s birthday is Monday, so the fun will continue for a few days. I hope you’re all having a great week. Take care. Luv, Zack Zack, Chloe and I had some good snoozing weather today! It was in the mid to high 60’s and raining all day. That’s about 30 degrees below our normal temperatures this time of year (and 40 degrees below our typical heat index!). What a pleasant day! Most people would say “oh how gloomy,” but we enjoyed the break from the scorching heat of summer. It was a refreshing reprieve. Plus, some time for “power naps” did all of us birds some good. We have some visits and celebrations ahead. Daddy’s birthday is next Wednesday. Last night, mommy and Chloe disappeared upstairs for a little while to order his present from us. So much for Chloe being mad at mommy about that bath on Wednesday. Those giggling girls never really get mad at each other. They go together like mashed potatoes and gravy – or macaroni and cheese, if that’s more in line with your idea of a culinary delight. But the gift is ordered, confirmation received, and daddy should receive it Wednesday. I can’t say what it is because he reads this blog. I’m no dummy. I’m a smart bird. We’re all smart birds. And now it’s the weekend! Yay! Mommy and daddy’s friends are coming to visit tomorrow – a couple from the lower part of the state. They’re happy about that. They haven’t seen Joe and Elizabeth in a couple of months, so I know they’re all happy to have a chance to hang out again. We like them, too. They’re good folks, and they’re always nice to us. I think the visit will be good for mommy and daddy too. It’s daddy’s busiest time of the year and he’s been stressed out this week. And mommy’s been busy with book edits for her sci-fi novel coming out in November, so it will do her some good to get out from behind the computer, between that and work. She finished the edits and turned them in Wednesday, but I think her brain’s still a little scrambled. I guess it takes her brain a while to get from the moons of Jupiter in the year 3001 back to Earth in 2013. She’s so funny in “writer mode.” I hope you’re all doing well and had a Happy Friday today. Have a great weekend. Luv, Ollie It's not fair! Yesterday, Zack threw up on one of his perches and toys. We think Zack accidentally swallowed some string from a preen toy or something and it upset his stomach. He recovered quickly, but you know mommy and daddy and their obsession with cleanliness. So perches were scrubbed. Preen toys got a spin through the delicate cycle on the washer. Zack got a scrub down last night "just to make sure." Then I found out tonight that mommy has some thing about "if one bird gets a bath, all birds get a bath." What? I wasn't the one that yakked all over my cage! I was a good girl! And after I watched after her with her cluster headache yesterday and Zack's upset tummy, this is my reward? A bath? Phooey! Some appreciation! Oh, she gave me some line about all the pin feathers on my head and trying to help out with them. And don't tell her, but the bath does help with pin feathers. But it's the principle behind the matter. It's principality, as they say in the movie Friday. I don't think it's right that I must have a bath since Zack had to have a bath. Oh well. You know what this means. Ollie's next! Get ready for splashy time tomorrow, baby brother! It's' coming down the line and you're the end of that line. Hee hee! Well, that's all for today. Have a good rest of the week. I'm hoping that things are looking up from here! Luv, Chloe So the humans have been going on about stress a lot lately. Daddy's work is cranking up for back-to-school time, and mommy has a meeting Monday to clear up some disciplinary issues. They've been having aches and pains and drinking "silly juice" (alcohol) after work. They say it's stress. We worry about our humans when they get like this, but we don't really know what stress is. We just try to comfort them and be good to them, as they are to us. Every day, they tell us that they're happy to be home with us. And every day, we're happy to see them come home! Well, there is one thing that I know a lot of us are looking forward to: Breaking Bad is back this Sunday at 9 p.m. on AMC! Whoot! In fact, AMC has a marathon on right now so -- I'm a bit distracted. I hope all of you are doing well and taking care. Happy Friday to you and have a great weekend. Luv, Zack I want to thank all of you for your care and concern over the weekend. I know that daddy tweeted that I wasn’t feeling well. It turns out that it was sleep deprivation. We got in a bad habit of staying up too late around the weekend, and it caught up with me. Thankfully, mommy and daddy have worked hard to get back on schedule, and I’ve been doing much better the past couple of days. I think one thing that’s been an issue is that daddy switched work schedules recently. In June and July, he works longer days Monday thru Thursday and has Fridays off. That’s thrown me off and mommy said she noticed that each Friday I seemed a bit more “off.” Daddy’s back to working his regular, 5 day week now. I’m sorry he doesn’t have Fridays off any more, but being back on our normal schedule has helped me. We’re going to have to figure out a way to make that schedule work better for me, Zack and Ollie next summer. We love having our parronts home more, but if our sleep schedule gets disrupted too much then we get snappy. They’re working on making sure we have a more consistent daily schedule now. Plus, I lost a few feathers over the weekend. I’m not sure if my fall molt is starting or if that was a side effect of the sleep deprivation. Even though it’s still summer in South Carolina and will be for at least another 6 weeks, I suppose the “nature cycle” is going into the late summer patterns and molting time is upon us. Ollie just finished his molt last week and I guess Zack and I have turns coming soon. That always makes us feel kind of blah too. Thanks to all of you for being such great friends! I’m flattered that you were concerned about my well being. You guys are the best. I couldn’t ask for better friends than you. Thank you and God bless you all! I’m sorry that I didn’t blog sooner, but mommy is my typist and she’s been very busy trying to keep things going at home lately. It seems the chores and errands avalanche on her every now and then, and it happened over the past couple of days. Plus, August is a busy time for the parronts with work, lots of birthdays, family and friend visits, etc. Sometimes, keeping the routine business of day to day living is a job in itself! That’s all today. Take care. Luv, Chloe Well folks, mommy and daddy didn't win the PowerBall drawing. And now mommy is complaining because she wants her $2 back. I don't think it works like that, mommy. Good grief, these silly humans. Gambling really doesn't suit her. She should definitely stay away from Vegas, eh? The lottery - who came up with that idea? A bunch of people spend money on a ticket for an infinity times infinity chance at winning an impossibly big jackpot. Seriously, it's like five point three seven million to one chance. Who thought that was a good idea? And yet people do it. They all think they're going to be "the one." Silly humans. At least other games have a strategy, like Blackjack and poker. (Although I don't know what it is). The lottery is a bunch of Barbie and Ken dolls drawing ping pong balls with numbers on them. If they mess with that anymore. People have better things to do. They probably use a computer to pick the numbers now. Hmm. It's still silly. It's a good thing birds don't believe in luck. We believe in living the best you can and being happy with what you have. It's why we're so cheerful all the time. That, and kind human suckers - I mean, parronts - to take care of us. I think I'm going to spin my hypno wheel and sing a bit before bedtime. That's all today. I hope you have a Happy Friday tomorrow and a great weekend! Luv, Ollie |
