There are other signs of summer, too. Daddy has grilled dinner several times, and mommy brings home more fruits and vegetables that are now in season and fresh. Social media is flooded with pictures of proms, graduations, senior dances, championship games, year end recitals, vacations, beaches, complaints over broken HVAC systems, snakes in yards, car thermometers with “can you believe this?” captions, new homes, parties, bar-b-ques, kids moving into first apartments, and legs in chairs by pools. It’s summer alright! It’s actually a little late here in SC. It usually happens in April, but what mommy calls the “stupid hot” (when it’s so hot that anything intelligent is impossible, because the heat itself is stupid) held off until last week, so we got a few more weeks of spring. How gracious.
It is good to have warmer weather and longer days. That’s what Bubbs and I really like about summer: it gives us more time to look out of the window and see life happening out there. We like to see the wild birds at the feeder while we play on our playgym, showing off our prestige at having human servants. The bluebirds in the backyard are fascinating, and the squirrels are silly running around the yard and bonking themselves on the baffle on the feeder. And yes, we are nosy and watch the neighbors too. Well, what we can see of them through the woods. Actually, we hear them more than see them. And they’re outside all of the time, so there’s plenty to hear. I’m not sure how they can stand the heat and humidity, but to each their own.
That’s all today. Take care, and have a great week.
Luv,
Zack
