She needs a break from the writing now, so she's switching focus. Mommy has three things she enjoys, but because of time constraints with a full time job she has to rotate them. She's always reading something, and her other activity is usually writing or counted cross stitching. She's been hitting the writing pretty hard this year, so she decided to start a new cross stitch yesterday. This one is a beach scene with a lighthouse that she intends to put in her office at work.
Personally, I prefer her writing. She writes scifi and I'm a nerd bird, so I enjoy the talk about plot development and research. The past few months have been about time theories, physics, spatial anomalies, pulsars, the multiverse, string theory, and spatial abnormalities. We even got to listen to a course on the solar system. It's been great fun and I love helping her write! She also has a series in progress about aliens hacking artificial intelligence, and that's been great fun to help her with too. She's right - writing really is fun!
But she needs a break, so we turn to the more 'relaxing' activity. Now it's about patterns and yarn. How much of each 'quadrant' and color scheme she completes each time she stitches (she sections off her patterns into quadrants), and which color yarn tends to knot up and snag. That darn light brown. It's being a knotty pest.
In other words, cross stitching is boring. I definitely prefer writing.
She'll get back to it. I know she will because she always does. In fact, I give her about 2 weeks before she misses it and starts whining about going back to short stories again, just to "do something." I must admit that the cross stitches are more interesting when they progress into something you can recognize, and they're pretty when they're done. I see how it's relaxing, too. It certainly puts me right to sleep.
So that's what's up in my corner of the world. I hope you're doing well. Take care, and have a great week.
Luv,
Bubbles
