My mommy, the sci-fi writer, grew up listening to country music.
I spent two days listening to classic country, and shocked at the fact that she knew it all. Alabama. Kenny Rogers. Dolly Parton. Barbara Mandrell. Eddie Rabbit. The Statler Brothers. The Oak Ridge Boys. Conway Twitty. Hank Williams, Jr. Crystal Gail. Juice Newton. Willie Nelson. George Jones. She knew it all. And she sang it to me. For two days.
Can you believe that? I couldn’t! Zack seemed to know it. Heck, he was in seventh, head-bobbing heaven with it. He loved it! I just can’t believe he didn’t tell me this about mommy.
I suppose it shouldn’t surprise me. She listens to a wide variety. She even lets us listen to country music on Thursdays, although she’s commented that she doesn’t like the country music they make now. The classic country is different. But still, it’s a shock to me. I had no idea she picked that particular country station for us because it’s the one her parents listened to while she was growing up.
Can you believe it? Can you believe that the mommy who introduced me to scifi and superheroes and the multiverse grew up listening to country music? You learn something new every day! I still love her, of course. She’s my mommy and she loves me and I love her back. I just wonder what other surprises she has!
The good news is that our AC is fixed now, so we’re back at our nest. It was nice to visit with the grandparronts, but it’s also good to be home in our own nest. With our own radio stations. She promised me that I could listen to my favorite classic rock tomorrow instead of country, since we had two days of country already this week. That will be nice.
That’s all today. Take care, and have a great rest of the week.
Luv,
Bubbles
