Actually, it's been quite a busy time for the parronts since granddaddy passed. Work picked up for both of them, and mommy was inspired to finish writing her scifi series-in-progress. It's titled The Sentience Series, and is a four novella series about the battle between aliens and artificial intelligence to control humanity. She was a little over halfway done with writing Book Three in the series when her Dad died. We all thought she'd need a break, but lo and behold the inspiration hit her hard and fast, and she not only finished Book Three, but just finished writing Book Four this past Thursday morning. She says she isn't sleeping well. She often doesn't when she's writing, but I think grief might have something to do with it as well. She's plugging along, though. Both parronts are. It's up and down, but at least they understand what's happening. They just went through this six years ago when daddy's Dad passed away with dementia. Still, it's frustrating because mommy is used to being happy and content, so this whole grief thing is strange to her.
Zack and I do all we can to comfort her, and that seems to help a lot. We're glad she's still working from home due to this COVID-19 mess so we can keep an eye on her (when we aren't napping, or screaming at her webinars). We were really glad she was home this past week, when Hurricane/Tropical Storm/Post Tropical Storm/General Pain In The Butt Feathers Sally passed through our area. That storm went through the Gulf, then curved around and came right back up here. How rude! Zack and I were nervous for two days. Mommy kind of was too, which she said was odd because weather doesn't typically bother her but hey - there goes the grief thing again. Turns out anxiety goes with that territory too. Sally turned out to be mostly rain, and we fared just fine. Really, it was just a couple of gloomy days, and we ended our days happily watching the DVR of Better Call Saul, Season 5 episodes that daddy recorded recently. We wish daddy could be home too, but he's an essential employee at the middle school. We were surprised that they didn't cancel school, especially that they did it earlier this year (pre-COVID) for a day of high winds and thunderstorms - but hey, COVID changes everything. I think "storm/snow" days are a thing of the past, now that online systems are set up for school. Now they'll be "remote learning days." Goodbye weather make-up days. Lost to the age of technology.
So we're still here, and doing fine. Mommy is back to writing and reading. She got away from that while her Dad was so sick in late July and August, so we're glad she's settling back into her beloved routines. She said she plans to get back to short stories after a brief break, since she's had some success in that area this year (plenty of rejections, but success too). She got a story accepted in a Halloween anthology week before last, and that made her happy. She said that fall and Halloween are the most inspiring times of the year for mystery writing. I can see how that's so.
We'll keep an eye on her and daddy (granddaddy's loss hit him hard too). Don't you worry about them, or about us. We have faith that things will improve, and that we will all have happy times again. It just takes some time to adjust and learn to live with the loss in your life. We loved granddaddy, and we're glad he's in Heaven. But he is missed.
That's all today. Take care, and have a great week.
Luv,
Bubbles
