Mommy does our finances, so she pays attention to what’s available and the fluxuation in prices. Some things really get her goat, though. For example, don’t ask her about Cable or Satellite TV. She thinks that’s the biggest scam in the universe. She thinks SmartTV’s are so – smart. But all of those apps aren’t free, and it seems the good stuff is scattered, so you have to decide what you want the most and wait for the rest of it to come out on Netflix, on sale, or at the library. We just saw Black Widow when it came out to regular subscribers on Disney+. And she said the new Halloween movie will probably wait, too, since we don’t have Peacock. Oh well. I heard it’s gory anyway, and we don’t like gory. Which brings up another question: why the remakes with modern mess ups? But that’s another blog.
Mommy doesn’t like to spend a lot of money on groceries either. She says they’ll end up in the septic tank, tossed out leftovers for the woodland critters, or at the dump eventually, so why bust the bank? Now that makes sense, even if the explanation is probably a bit more honest than you bargained for. Publix is ridiculously overpriced when you can get what you need at Aldi.
One more thing she bristles at is clothes. No doubt, daddy dresses nicer than she does, but they both make an effort to find their clothes at more reasonable prices. She says it doesn’t make sense to spend a lot on something that’s going to wear out. But then I remember how granddaddy used to joke about not going out in the rain in cheap clothes or they might fall apart, so I guess there’s a balance to keep there. I’m glad I have feathers. They’re great, and go with all times, seasons, and occasions. Mine are especially suitable and festive for fall.
I suppose it’s wise to watch the budget whether there are supply chain issues or not. And really, gifts aren’t the reason for the season. We’ll have fun and enjoy it, no matter what. It’s what we do! I have a feeling that they’ll find a way to make money this holiday season. We’ll all get creative, but if the retailers don’t get creative about stocking shelves then they’ll get cranky about lost Black Friday profits and people realizing, like the Grinch, that it doesn’t come from a store, and it’s something more.
And there’s always Santa. He never runs out of stuff. He’s magical!
That’s all today. Take care, and have a great week.
Luv,
Zack
