I open with news of a new bird blog called The Roost. The Roost celebrates all things bird, and will be launching their first issue late this week. You'll find pictures, stories, news, information, and advice to make life with birds the best and most fun that it can be. If you love birds and are looking for a positive place away from the bad news, gloom, and screaming heads of doom, this is it! You can follow us on Twitter at @TheRoost10 and on Instagram at theroostonline. There's already a hashtag campaign calling for pictures and videos so we can get to know our readers, so swing by and introduce yourself to this new community for and about birds!
Next up is that South Carolina primaries were yesterday, and we had a surprise when political newcomer John Warren forced a run-off with the incumbent Governor Henry McMaster. The Republicans are going to a run off on June 26, and it's the first time an incumbent has had to go to a runoff in known history. Warren is a businessman who campaigned on cleaning up government corruption and bringing in an outside perspective. It seems that the idea of bringing in a businessperson who doesn't have political ties is still hanging over from the 2016 Presidential election here in South Carolina, as so many people are fed up with "politics as usual" and are willing to try a new approach, even (and especially) if it means making a politician out of a businessman. You can read more from The State Newspaper here. As for the Democrats, that race was a sweep with a big win for James Smith. And President Trump's Tweet yesterday regarding Representative (and former Governor) Mark Sanford was a wish fulfilled, as he conceded his race to Katie Arrington. So much for a comeback.
In closing, we have a birthday coming up: mine! Saturday (June 16) will be two years since I came to live here, and we'll officially celebrate my fourth birthday. Wow, I got a Gotcha Day! It's wonderful! Mommy and daddy said there will be gifts and treats, too. Oh boy!
That's all for today's edition of "Birdy News With Bubbs." I'll keep you informed and in the know on all things that matter to birds. Take care, and have a great rest of the week!
Luv,
Bubbles
