“Give it back now!” Zack said, firing the pop gun at the huge, metal object in the center of the room.
“Negative. It’s not an approved Toko toy,” the mechanical voice said.
“I don’t care!” Jinx said. “You heard us. Give it back NOW!” The pop gun in Jinx’s foot flashed, filling the room with smoke.
The robot barely shuddered against the pops.
Suction cup darts flew across the room as Ninja Harine, Momo and Kermit fired from the corners of the room.
Chloe screamed and rushed into the room, grabbing the robot by the legs and flipping it up against the wall.
“That is not an approved play method in my database,” the robot said.
“I’ll demonstrate more unapproved methods if you don’t tell me what you did to the boys!” Chloe shouted. She pinned the robot with a foot and looked at Zack. “What happened?”
Zack’s eyes were wide and sad. “It took our yukka chews!”
Chloe growled at the robot. “Why?”
“Yukka chews are not Toko toys.”
“What are Toko toys?” Jinx asked, leveling his pop gun at the robot’s face.
“Superior toys and electronics.”
“Where are our yukka chews?” Zack asked.
“Scheduled for demolition.”
“WHERE?!” Zack asked. Ninja Harine, Momo and Kermit came alongside them, suction cup darts leveled at the robot’s face.
“I will never tell,” the robot said.
“You might want to talk,” Ninja Harine said, “before we schedule you for target practice. Tell me if that’s an approved play method!”
The robots pixelated eyes shifted around the room. “I am not programmed to engage in unnecessary talk.”
“I know one thing, it’s time for my Kung-fu workout!” Chloe karate chopped the robot with her foot, causing a chip to eject from the robot’s neck. She pulled it out with her beak. “I’ll bet the location of the yukka chews are on this,” she said, “along with answers to the strange things that are happening here today.”
“Don’t worry, Zack,” Jinx said. “We’ll get to the bottom of this, and get our yukka chews back too.”
Zack cackled. “And then I have a special surprise for this hunk of metal.”
