Petesy, Samson, and Delilah were the budgies mommy had as a teenager. She got Samson (green budgie, center) for her tenth birthday in 1985. Delilah (far right) followed in 1989, when she was preparing to start high school, and was concerned that Sammy would be lonely while she was at school and band practice most of the day. She adopted Petesy (far left) in 1992 from her great aunt, who had Alzheimer's and was no longer able to care for him (the great aunt passed away in November 1996).
They were great budgies and wonderful companions during her high school and college years. All three of them passed away in 1996. Delilah died of an infection in September 1996, Petesy died of pneumonia in early October 1996, and Samson died of heart failure on October 31, 1996. Gone, but never forgotten! We honor these great 'keets who brightened the early days of mommy's life. |
Meet Skeeter! Skeeter was a cockatiel that was given to daddy's grandmother after his grandfather died to keep her company. His family took Skeeter in when daddy's grandmother had to move into a nursing home. He was a great joy to be around, and loved to whistle and chirp at people, outside birds, and the television. He really bonded with Grandpa. Unfortunately, Grandpa was diagnosed with Lewy Body Syndrome in 2010 (he passed away in August 2014). Skeeter was rehomed in 2011 because daddy's parents could no longer care for him, and mommy's allergic to cockatiels. We hope Skeeter brought as much light and joy to his new home as he did to our lives for many years.
